Exactly this time last year, I was basking in the euphoria of a newly launched blog. A few articles and I got caught up in other endeavours, leaving this space almost unattended. As I took stock of 2017, I realised I was making the mistake I had made a number of times before-always waiting for what I consider perfect moments before stepping out. See what it keeps doing to me; it deprives me of growth.
A few months ago, I began my MSc. and it has been a great learning process for me. Every day, I see clearly that we get better only by doing and learning from what we have done. Most of the courses I take involve presentations and although students always shy away from this, the feedbacks always pave way for improvements and every new performance is a notch higher than the previous.
It is only a theory that has been propounded that can be criticised, but most importantly, that can be referenced.
So, this year, I want you to do it again. A new year does not have to contain fresh ideas and goals. All the unachieved goals of last year can be brought forward and implemented. This year, I am going to write again and keep at it, despite the doubts that always tug at my heart. I am going to wake up every morning with a smile, whether there’s power supply or not. I am going to open my heart to receive love again. I am going to build friendships again and revive the bonds that I carelessly ignored. I am going to revive my old habit of listening to the news and reading voraciously.
Here’s to a 2018 of greater fulfillment as we keep doing it again and better.
